Chapter 13 - The Silent PartnerTwo weeks had passed since the tarmac ambush in Napa Valley. The safe-haven in San Diego had served its purpose, but Ethan knew that hiding was never a permanent solution. If the syndicate wanted the Vance bloodline, they had to be rooted out entirely—not just at the operational level, but at the absolute top.

Sitting in the glass-walled study of the San Diego estate, Ethan stared at a single file folder stamped with a top-secret federal classification seal. Across the desk sat Agent Miller, the senior federal prosecutor who had handled the indictment of Richard Sterling months prior.
"You found another connection?" Ethan asked, his voice steady and cold.
Agent Miller slid a single photograph across the mahogany desk. It showed a distinguished older man in an expensive bespoke suit stepping out of a private helicopter in Geneva.
"Meet Arthur Sterling, Richard’s older brother and the true financial architect behind Project Genesis," Agent Miller said gravely. "While Richard managed the corporate board and domestic logistics, Arthur operated out of Europe, managing the shadow accounts that funded the black-site research labs."
Ethan’s jaw tightened. "So arresting Richard didn't cut the head off the snake. It just forced the real beast out into the open."

"Exactly," Miller replied. "Arthur knows you seized the Zurich servers. He knows his entire empire is collapsing. And according to our intercepted communication intercepts, he has put a personal bounty on your entire family."
Ethan leaned back in his leather chair, his eyes locking onto the photograph of Arthur Sterling. A dangerous, cold resolve settled into his features. "Then we aren't going to wait for him to send another hit squad. We're going to bring the fight directly to his doorstep."
