Chapter 17 - The Final ConfessionBack in the maximum-security wing of a federal detention facility in Zurich, Ethan stood behind the reinforced glass of the interrogation booth, watching Arthur Sterling sit at the metal table. The older man looked small, defeated, and utterly broken.

Ethan picked up the audio receiver. "You have nothing left, Arthur. The foundation is seized. The offshore accounts are frozen. Your network is dismantled."
Arthur picked up his receiver, staring through the glass with hollow, venomous eyes. "You won the battle, Ethan. But you'll never truly understand what Project Genesis was really about. It wasn't about money or weapons."
"Then what was it about?" Ethan demanded.
"Evolution," Arthur whispered hoarsely, a chilling grin spreading across his bruised face. "Control over human biology. And you think you can lock it away, but markers like the ones your sons carry... they don't just disappear. Someone, somewhere, will always want them."

He hung up the receiver, turned on his heel, and walked out of the facility without looking back. The ghosts of the past were finally locked behind unbreakable steel.
