Chapter 11 - The Prisoner of the East Wing

The secret basement was a relic of cold, calculated isolation—a soundproofed cell buried beneath the wealthiest mansion in the city. Inside, behind a thick, reinforced glass window, sat a frail figure wrapped in a tattered blanket.

When the federal agents shone their flashlights into the gloom, the figure flinched, shielding their eyes with a skeletal, trembling hand.

"Who are you?" an agent called out gently, stepping into the freezing room. "It's okay. You're safe now. The house has been seized."

The prisoner slowly lowered their hand. Matted blonde hair fell around a hollow, gaunt face, but the eyes—striking, familiar emerald green—pierced straight through the decades of darkness.

"Did..." The voice was a dry, raspy whisper, barely louder than a breath. "Did Arthur finally send someone to finish the job... or did Mateo find the teacup?"

The agent froze, his radio slipping slightly in his grip. "How... how do you know that name?"

The prisoner managed a weak, heartbreaking smile, revealing cracked lips. "Because I am Elena Vance. And I've been waiting fifteen years for my son to break the silence."
