Chapter 5 - The Lockdown

Before Mateo could stand, the estate's heavy smart-home system beeped ominously. Every window in the mansion instantly slammed shut, covered by thick, bulletproof steel shutters. The lights flickered once, turned a sickly emergency red, and the massive front doors bolted shut with a deafening hydraulic thud.

"System override: Protocol Omega," a mechanical, disembodied voice echoed through the intercom. "All exits sealed. Biometric lockdown engaged."

Arthur smiled coldly, pulling a sleek black smartphone from his pocket. "Did you really think I didn't have motion sensors wired into every structural column of this house, Rosa? The moment that bust shattered, the trap sprang."

Rosa didn't panic. Instead, she pulled her own phone out, tapping the screen twice with a calm, chilling composure. "You rely too much on technology, Arthur. You forgot that the human element is always your undoing."

A loud buzz echoed from Arthur’s phone. He glanced down, and for the first time, genuine panic flickered across his face.

"What is this?" Arthur demanded, tapping his screen frantically.

"That," Rosa said smoothly, walking toward the grand staircase, "is a live data dump streaming every single file, bank record, and confession from that box directly to the FBI, the international press, and every major board member of Vance Industries. By the time you draw your next breath, your empire won't just be ruined—it will be seized."

Arthur let out an animalistic roar of rage. He reached inside his tailored suit jacket and pulled out a heavy, silver-plated revolver, pointing it directly at Rosa's chest.

"I’ll kill you both right here," Arthur snarled, his finger tightening on the trigger. "And the official report will say you tried to rob the estate and my son was caught in the crossfire."
