Chapter 2 - The Sound of Shattered Silence

The crystalline explosion echoed through the grand foyer, but the silence that followed was far more terrifying than the crash. Rosa didn’t flinch. While anyone else would have dropped to their knees or screamed at the flying shrapnel, the head maid merely adjusted the collar of her crisp black uniform. Her eyes, usually masked in servile obedience, flickered with an emotion Mateo had never seen before: chilling, calculated recognition.
"Is that the best you can do, little master?" Rosa’s voice was barely a whisper, yet it cut through the cavernous hall like a razor blade.
Mateo froze, his chest heaving. The adrenaline that had fueled his frantic sprint suddenly evaporated, replaced by a cold, crawling dread. He stared at the ruined bust of Venus. Beneath the shattered marble nose, something dark and metallic was exposed within the hollow core of the pedestal. It wasn't stone inside. It was a heavy, industrial-grade steel lockbox.
"You shouldn't have broken that," Rosa continued, stepping over the glittering shards of porcelain without a care. She didn't look at Mateo; her gaze was locked entirely on the exposed vault. "That teacup belonged to the set your mother used the night she 'disappeared.' And this bust? It holds the ledger your father has killed three people to keep hidden."
Before Mateo could process her words, heavy footsteps thundered up the grand staircase. Arthur Vance—billionaire tycoon, ruthless patriarch, and Mateo’s tyrannical father—appeared on the landing. His face was a mask of cold fury, his eyes scanning the wreckage with absolute contempt.
"What is the meaning of this commotion?" Arthur’s voice boomed, chilling the air instantly. He didn't look at his son. His lethal gaze fixed directly on Rosa, who was standing inches away from the exposed vault.

Rosa slowly turned around, meeting the billionaire's murderous glare not with trembling fear, but with a slow, wicked smile.
"It seems, Mr. Vance," Rosa said smoothly, "the truth is finally ready to come out of the shadows."
