Chapter 37 - The Collapse of Vesper Holdings

Within forty-eight hours of our legal counter-strike, the financial world experienced a massive shockwave.

The front-page headline of the Financial Times blazed across newsstands worldwide: "SYNTHETIC SHADOWS: VVESPER HOLDINGS EXPOSED AS FRONT FOR RESURGENT SMUGGLING SYNDICATE; SWISS AUTHORITIES FREEZE ASSETS."

Julian Vance’s grand plan to rebuild the criminal empire collapsed before it even left the boardroom. Swiss federal police, acting on the emergency international injunction filed by Aegis Global, raided Vesper Holdings' offices in Zurich, seizing all accounts, arresting Julian’s top lieutenants, and issuing an immediate international arrest warrant for Julian himself.

I sat in my penthouse office, watching the live broadcast of the raid on my primary display. The reporters were praising Aegis Global’s proactive compliance and forensic transparency in helping international regulators root out hidden financial corruption.

My phone buzzed on the mahogany desk. It was an encrypted call from an unknown, blocked international number.

I pressed speakerphone.

"Sophia," Julian’s voice came through the line, strained, ragged, and stripped of all its former aristocratic composure. He was clearly calling from a burner phone on the run. "You destroyed months of work in a single afternoon. You really don't know when to stop, do you?"

"I told you in Geneva, Julian," I replied evenly, my voice like cold steel. "My empire isn't built on glass. It's built on titanium. Every time your family tries to build a shadow over my life, I shine a light so bright it burns you to the ground."

"This isn't over," Julian hissed through the static before the line abruptly went dead with a sharp click.

"No, Julian," I murmured to the empty room. "It really isn't. Because you're about to join Alexander in a federal cage."
