Chapter 38 - The Final Fugitive

Julian Vance’s time on the run was remarkably short-lived. With international law enforcement agencies alerted and Aegis Global’s private intelligence network tracking every digital footprint he left behind, Julian was cornered less than a week later at a private airfield outside of Marseille, France, as he attempted to board a chartered flight to South America.

French federal police, accompanied by Interpol agents briefed by our team, swarmed the tarmac before the aircraft engines could even spool up. Julian was taken into custody without a single shot fired, his designer luggage tossed across the pavement as heavy steel cuffs locked around his wrists.

Back in New York, Marcus walked into my office holding the final confirmation bulletin from Interpol.

"Julian is in custody, Sophia," Marcus reported, tossing the folder onto my desk with a satisfied sigh. "Extradition proceedings to the United States are already underway. He’ll be tried under the same RICO statutes that put Alexander and Victor away."

I looked down at the paperwork, feeling a profound, unshakeable sense of closure settle over my mind. For years, the ghosts of Alexander’s past and the syndicate’s enforcers had tried to loom over my life, whispering threats of destruction and revenge. Now, every single architect of that terror was locked behind iron bars where they belonged.

"The entire network is eradicated," I said softly, leaning back in my executive chair.

"From top to bottom," Marcus confirmed. "There’s no one left to pick up the pieces."
