Chapter 5 - The Manhattan War Room

Back in New York, the sun was casting long, golden shadows across the sleek hardwood floors of my Manhattan apartment. I stood by the floor-to-ceiling windows, holding a crystal glass of sparkling water, watching the yellow cabs crawl down Fifth Avenue.

My phone buzzed on the kitchen island. It was Marcus, calling from his secure landline.

"Sophia, Phase Two is complete," Marcus reported, his tone laced with professional admiration. "Alexander’s corporate assets have been officially seized by the federal receivership team. His business partners are already distancing themselves, and the board of directors at Vanguard Capital has called an emergency vote to strip him of his CEO title."

"And Khloe?" I asked smoothly, taking a slow sip of my water.

"She’s currently having a complete meltdown in the lobby of the Maui resort," Marcus chuckled darkly. "The hotel management is threatening to toss them out onto the street because their reservation was booked using one of the frozen corporate cards that just bounced."

"Good," I replied calmly. "Let them feel what it’s like to have the rug pulled out from under them. But we aren't done yet, Marcus. Alexander built his entire empire on lies, theft, and exploitation. I want every single skeleton he locked away in his corporate closet dragged out into the harsh light of day."

"Consider it done, boss. The investigative reports go live to the national financial press tomorrow morning at 8:00 AM sharp."

I hung up the phone and smiled faintly at my reflection in the glass. Alexander wanted to play a high-stakes game of manipulation? I had just rewritten the rules of the entire board.
