Chapter 13 - THE ASHCROFT ACADEMY

The Ashcroft Academy rose like a stern stone fortress against the gray Massachusetts coastline, surrounded by wrought-iron fences and manicured hedges. By mid-afternoon, James and Rachel’s private motorcade pulled through the iron gates, drawing curious stares from students dressed in navy-blue blazers.
They bypassed the front administrative desk entirely, marching directly into the office of the headmistress, Dr. Evelyn Sterling—a distant cousin of the Detroit faction who had quietly managed the academy under an assumed institutional umbrella.
Dr. Sterling looked up from her mahogany desk, her face instantly turning pale as she recognized James McKenzie.
"Mr. McKenzie. Mrs. McKenzie," Dr. Sterling stammered, standing up and smoothing her skirt. "To what do we owe this unexpected...?"
"Cut the pleasantries, Evelyn," James said coldly, slamming the encrypted dossier onto her desk. "We know about Project Bloodline-Alpha. We know the girl you’ve been harboring under a falsified registry for sixteen years is my eldest daughter."
Dr. Sterling tried to maintain her composure, offering a tight, defensive smile. "You have no legal jurisdiction here. The Ashcroft Trust operates under independent state education charters. That girl is legally a ward of the board—"
Before she could finish, the office door swung open.
Standing in the doorway, holding a stack of art books, was a sixteen-year-old girl with striking amber eyes and dark hair identical to Rachel’s. She wore the academy blazer, but her expression was fiercely independent, carrying the exact same defiant spark James possessed.

"Is there a problem, Headmistress?" the girl asked, her voice clear and steady.
Rachel froze, a sob catching in her throat as she stared at the teenager. "Elena...?"
