Chapter 10 - THE NEW DAWN

Three months later, the formal dismantling of the McKenzie-Patterson proxy syndicates was finalized in a federal courtroom in Manhattan. Every single cent recovered from Derek Patterson’s hidden accounts, the syndicate's illicit land trusts, and the corrupt adoption rings was legally transferred into a newly established global entity: The Chloe & Rachel Foundation, dedicated to locating, rehabilitating, and protecting displaced children worldwide.

The Cedar Street apartment building had been purchased entirely by James and demolished, replaced by a state-of-the-art community center and free pediatric medical clinic—a symbol of hope rising from the ashes of poverty and abuse.

On a warm Saturday afternoon, the sprawling green lawns of the Westchester estate were filled with bright laughter.

Chloe and Noah were kicking a soccer ball across the grass, while little Tyler chased after them with squeals of delight.

Rachel sat on the wooden porch beside James, leaning her head against his shoulder as they watched their children play under the weeping willows.

James reached into his pocket, pulling out a small, frayed strip of paper with ten handwritten digits on it—the emergency number Rachel had hidden behind the cordless phone all those months ago.

He held it up, smiling faintly.

“You know,” James murmured, “I think I’m going to frame this.”

Rachel laughed softly, intertwining her fingers with his. “Why? It’s just an old piece of paper.”
