Chapter 14 - THE TRUTH UNVEILED

The girl—Elena—stepped back, narrowing her eyes. "Who are you? How do you know my name? The headmistress told me my parents died in a car accident when I was a baby."
"She lied to you, Elena," James said gently, taking a slow step forward with his hands open to show he meant no harm. "Just like the syndicate lied to us. We didn't abandon you. Your grandfather stole you from the hospital the day you were born."
Elena looked from James to Rachel, her chest heaving with disbelief. "That’s insane. You’re just strangers—wealthy strangers showing up out of nowhere—"
"Look at her eyes, Elena," Rachel interrupted, tears streaming down her face as she pointed to her own eyes. "Look at the amber ring around your iris. Look at the way you hold your hands when you’re nervous. You are a McKenzie. You have a mother, a father, a little sister, and two little brothers waiting for you at home."
Dr. Sterling lunged for the phone on her desk. "Security! Remove these intruders immediately!"
Marcus intercepted her instantly, gently removing the phone from her grip and securing the office door. "I wouldn't do that, Doctor. Federal marshals have already surrounded the perimeter, and your institutional charter has been revoked by the state attorney general."
Elena stared at the chaos unfolding around her, her walls of defense crumbling. She looked at Rachel, seeing the undeniable love and sorrow etched across her mother's face.

"Is it... is it really true?" Elena whispered, a tear slipping down her cheek. "I’m not an orphan?"
"You were never an orphan, sweetheart," James choked out, closing the distance and pulling his eldest daughter into a fierce, protective embrace. "You were just hidden. And now, you’re coming home."
