Chapter 25 - The Third Heir

Dante Moretti stepped down the grand staircase, his hands tucked casually into his trouser pockets, as if he were walking into a high-society gala rather than a war zone.

"Dante?" Leo repeated, testing the syllables. "Alberto’s files mentioned a third trust, but the records were purged."

"Alberto served the banking guild, not the family," Dante replied smoothly, stopping ten feet away from Leo, his dark eyes scanning the room with clinical detachment. "While you were playing lord of the manor in Sicily and Julian was rotting in a fermentation vault, I was running the entire European logistics network from the shadows of Zurich and Monte Carlo. Valentina didn't abandon me; she placed me where empires are actually built—in the ledgers, not the streets."

"You orchestrated the attack on the docks," Leo said, his finger resting lightly on the trigger of his Beretta. "You’re the one feeding the Vane tempest our security protocols."

"The Vane tempest are tools, Leo—nothing more," Dante laughed softly, shaking his head. "Just like Julian, just like the men my mother manipulated. Power doesn't belong to the man who holds the gun; it belongs to the man who owns the mortgages on the land where the gun is fired."

From the shadows behind Dante, two heavy-set operatives stepped forward, holding a restrained figure between them—Elena. Her hands were bound behind her back with industrial zip-ties, but her chin remained held high, defiant to the very end.

Leo’s eyes darkened into an abyss of pure, unadulterated rage. "Let her go, Dante. This is between us."
