Chapter 17 - Dawn of the New Titan

By 8:45 AM, the forty-fifth-floor boardroom of Aegis Capital Group was packed to capacity. The atmosphere was thick with tension. Rumors of the midnight corporate raid and the federal arrests had already leaked to the financial press, sending shockwaves through the market.

At the long mahogany table, the board members sat in uneasy silence, whispering among themselves.

At precisely 9:00 AM, the double doors swung open.

Maddie Sterling walked into the room. She wore a pristine ivory pantsuit, her posture immaculate, her stride commanding absolute silence. She didn't look like a woman who had spent her night fending off an armed intruder; she looked like an empress reclaiming her throne.

She walked straight to the head of the table, placed her leather portfolio down with a crisp, decisive snap, and scanned the faces of the board members one by one.

"Good morning, gentlemen," Maddie said, her voice cutting cleanly through the heavy silence of the room. "I understand there has been some confusion regarding our secondary share allocation and the hostile claims brought by the Vanguard Apex Trust."

One of the senior board members, a nervous hedge-fund veteran named Henderson, cleared his throat. "Mrs. Sterling, the market is reacting violently. If those twelve percent shares aren't accounted for immediately, the green energy acquisition will collapse, and the board will be forced to vote on an emergency receivership."

Maddie smiled—a calm, devastatingly confident smile that made the entire room hold its breath.

"There is no crisis, Mr. Henderson," Maddie replied smoothly, sliding a certified document across the table toward him. "As of 7:30 AM this morning, following the federal seizure of Vanessa Cole's illicit proxy assets, the twelve percent stake held by Vanguard Apex has been legally forfeited to the federal restitution fund. And through an immediate cash-asset buyout executed by my personal holding firm, Aegis Capital has repurchased those shares at a ninety percent discount."

Henderson picked up the document, his eyes scanning the legal seals and signatures. His jaw slowly dropped.

"You... you absorbed their entire hostile maneuver," Henderson whispered in sheer disbelief.

"I didn't just absorb it," Maddie said, resting her palms flat against the mahogany table and leaning forward slightly. "I weaponized it. The green energy acquisition is fully funded, our liquidity is secured for the next decade, and every single proxy associated with the old regime has been permanently purged from our corporate registry."

She stood up slowly, her gaze sweeping across the room.

"The vote is open. Who wishes to oppose us?"

Not a single hand was raised.
