Chapter 11 - The Shadow Syndicate's RetaliationThe dust from the federal raid on Sterling Global’s penthouse had barely settled when the global stock exchanges opened on Monday morning. Within minutes, mysterious short-selling orders began flooding the market, targeting Sterling Global’s primary logistics and energy infrastructure sectors.
Victoria Sterling stood in front of the massive glass boardroom windows, watching the red numbers tick downward on her secondary terminal. "They’re liquidating our offshore accounts through a shadow network," she said, her voice tight with stress. "Whoever was backing Marcus Vance isn't in prison. They’re launching a full-scale economic counter-attack."
Daniel walked into the room, carrying two cups of black coffee. He set one down on the desk, his expression stone-cold. He was back in his work shirt, his sleeves rolled up, examining a circuit board salvaged from the hackers' equipment.
"It's not just a financial attack, Victoria," Daniel said quietly. "Look at the routing nodes of the data packet surge. They aren't trying to bankrupt Sterling Global. They're trying to force a system shutdown on the national grid."
Eleanor entered the boardroom sharply, her cane clicking rhythmically against the marble floor. "The international oversight committee has just frozen our secondary assets. They believe Sterling Global is compromised because of the breach. We have forty-eight hours before the government steps in and seizes control of Project Orion."
Victoria looked between her mother and Daniel. "How do we stop an invisible syndicate that controls half the regulatory board?"

Hook: "We announce a public demonstration of Project Orion tomorrow at dawn," Daniel smirked. "And we invite the head of the syndicate personally—knowing full well he thinks I'm still just a broke mechanic."
