Chapter 14 - The InterrogationThe smoke cleared to reveal two unconscious mercenaries pinned beneath heavy steel shelving, while their team leader sat handcuffed to a bolted chair in the center of the control room.

Daniel stood over him, wiping a smear of grease and soot from his forehead. His expression was utterly terrifying.

"Where is Viktor?" Daniel asked, his voice dead calm.

The mercenary spat blood onto the concrete floor, grinning defiantly. "You're too late, Carter. Viktor is already at the central broadcasting station. By sunrise, Project Orion will be uploaded to the dark web, and Sterling Global will be blamed for an international cyber-terrorism attack."

Victoria checked her terminal. Her face drained of color. "My God... he’s right. The feed is already mirroring our primary satellite uplink. If they execute the transfer, every government agency on earth will issue a kill-on-sight order against you and the company."

Eleanor stepped out of the private elevator, having bypassed the lockdown via an encrypted override code. She looked at the captured mercenary with utter disdain.

"Viktor thinks he can outsmart the Sterling family logistics network," Eleanor said coldly, pulling a vintage gold pocket watch from her blazer. "He forgets who built the communication towers this city runs on."
