Chapter 5 - The Corporate TrapWith the intruders zip-tied and secured in the mansion's walk-in wine cellar, the atmosphere in the study was electric. Eleanor poured herself a double shot of whiskey, her hands shaking slightly—not from fear, but from the realization of how deeply she had underestimated the man sitting across from her.

"Project Orion," Daniel said, leaning against the bookshelf. His tone was surgical. "That’s the classified energy-grid takeover software Sterling Global has been developing. If rival conglomerate Apex Corp gets their hands on it, they control every power grid on the East Coast."

Victoria paced the Persian rug, her high heels clicking rhythmically. "Apex Corp has been trying to hostile-takeover Sterling Global for six months. But how did they know about Project Orion? That file was restricted to the executive board alone."

"It wasn't just the board," Eleanor said heavily, sinking into a leather armchair. "There's a leak inside the executive suite. Someone with level-five clearance sold us out."

Daniel looked at Victoria. "Who presented the last architectural review for the grid?"

Victoria stopped pacing. Her eyes widened with sudden, crushing realization. "Marcus Vance. My executive vice president... and my fiancé."

The room fell dead silent. Victoria felt her knees weaken. Marcus—the man she had trusted with her career, her public life, and her heart—was the traitor who had orchestrated tonight's raid, putting innocent lives, including a 10-year-old child, in mortal danger.

"He’s hosting an exclusive gala at the Grand Horizon Hotel tomorrow night," Victoria said, her voice trembling with cold fury. "He’s planning to announce the merger with Apex Corp and force the board to oust me."

Daniel stood up, buttoning his jacket. "Then we crash his party."

Hook: "You can't just walk into the Grand Horizon in a work shirt," Victoria protested. Daniel smirked. "Watch me. But we aren't going as guests—we're going as the new majority shareholders."
