Chapter 13 - Siege in the Subterranean BunkerSparks showered down from the ceiling as the primary blast door absorbed the first wave of concussive charges. The heavy steel groaned, bolts snapping like toothpicks.

Victoria grabbed a heavy tactical submachine gun from the emergency arms locker, her hands steady despite the adrenaline pumping through her veins. "They're using plasma cutters on the hydraulic seals. We have less than three minutes before they breach!"
Daniel remained entirely calm. He scooped Lilly up into his arms, carrying her toward the reinforced safe room at the back of the bunker. "Stay inside, sweetie. Dad has to fix a few broken pipes outside."
"Be careful, Daddy," Lilly whispered, wrapping her small arms tightly around his neck before sliding into the safe room as the heavy titanium door slammed shut and locked automatically.
Daniel turned around, his eyes locking onto Victoria. She stood beside him, weapon raised, her CEO composure replaced by a fierce, warrior’s resolve.
"I told you once before," Victoria said, a bold smirk touching her lips. "You can't fire your CEO when things get difficult."
Daniel smiled faintly. "Then let's show these mercenaries what happens when you interrupt a father's evening."
As the main blast door finally blew inward in a massive wall of fire and smoke, three heavily armed elite operatives stormed through the opening, night-vision goggles glowing in the dark.

Hook: In less than twenty seconds, Daniel vaulted over the control console, engaging the lead mercenary in brutal hand-to-hand combat as the underground bunker turned into a warzone.
