Chapter 8 - The Twist of All TwistsViral Hook: Arthur opens a hidden wall panel in the study and pulls out a DNA test from last week. The truth about Mia’s real identity shatters everything!

"Then who did?" Mia demanded, stepping closer to the desk, her professional composure finally cracking. "Who burned your house down, Arthur?"
Arthur pointed a trembling finger toward a seemingly solid oak bookshelf on the far wall. "Press the third leather-bound volume of The Count of Monte Cristo."
Mia frowned, walked over to the shelf, and pressed the book. With a soft click, a secret panel swung open, revealing a small, fireproof metal lockbox. Arthur punched a six-digit code into the keypad, popped the lid, and pulled out a sealed, official DNA ancestry report dated just four days ago.
He handed it to Mia with trembling hands.
Mia pulled out the document, her eyes scanning the genetic matching percentages. She stopped breathing. Her name—Mia Vance—was listed at the top, matched against a paternal and maternal genetic database.
"How... how do you have my DNA?" Mia gasped, stumbling back a step.
"I didn't have to steal it, Mia," Arthur said softly, a bittersweet smile touching his lips. "When you applied for that undercover position at my private estate three months ago... I ran a background check on the very first day. I knew who you were within twenty-four hours."
Mia stared at him, bewildered and terrified. "If you knew who I was... if you knew I was investigating you... why didn't you fire me? Why didn't you have me arrested?"
Arthur stood up from his chair, walked slowly around the desk, and looked deep into her eyes.
"Because, my child," Arthur whispered, a tear finally spilling down his weathered cheek, "I didn't lose my infant daughter in that fire thirty-five years ago. Eleanor stole her out of her crib, hid her with a trusted family in Europe, and told me she burned to ash... all to punish me for a crime I never committed."

Mia’s world spun off its axis. The phone in her pocket buzzed insistently with a text from her bureau supervisor, but she couldn't look away.
"You..." Mia choked out, the words catching in her throat. "You're my... my father?"
