Chapter 16 - A Toast to Tomorrow

The annual San Diego Business Gala was the most exclusive event of the year, bringing together the nation's top industry leaders, innovators, and philanthropists. The grand ballroom of the coastal hotel glittered under crystal chandeliers, filled with the murmur of high-stakes conversations and clinking crystal flutes.
Victoria entered the room on the arm of David Vance, wearing a breathtaking, minimalist midnight-blue silk gown that commanded immediate attention. Heads turned as she walked past, murmurs of respect and admiration rippling through the crowd.
The master of ceremonies took the podium, clearing his throat to capture the room's attention.

"Ladies and gentlemen, tonight’s Vanguard Entrepreneur of the Year award goes to a woman who redefined corporate leadership, turning adversity into a global empire," the announcer declared. "Please join me in welcoming the founder and CEO of Vanguard Global, Victoria Lawson—ah, excuse me, Victoria Vance."
The entire ballroom erupted into thunderous, standing applause. Victoria paused, a soft, knowing smile playing on her lips. She looked out over the sea of cheering faces, realizing with absolute clarity that she no longer needed a hyphenated name or a man's legacy to define her power. She was simply Victoria—unshakable, unstoppable, and entirely free.
