Chapter 10 - A NEW EMPIRE

Six months later, the sun rose over a radically transformed landscape in Chicago.
The grand iron gates of the Vance estate no longer bore the intimidating crest of the old corporate dynasty. Instead, a sleek, modern bronze plaque sat by the entrance: The Vance-Evelyn Foundation & Trust: Sanctuary for Families.
The old mansion had been legally converted into a sprawling, state-of-the-art sanctuary and rehabilitation center for displaced mothers, children, and victims of corporate corruption.
On the sunlit front lawn, five-year-old twins Leo and Liam chased a soccer ball across the emerald grass, their infectious laughter echoing through the morning air.
Marcus stood on the grand marble portico, wearing a simple linen shirt and slacks, holding a steaming mug of coffee. Beside him stood Evelyn, her hand resting comfortably in his pocket, leaning against his shoulder as they watched the boys play.
"You know," Evelyn said with a soft smile, looking up at him, "for a man who lost a billion-dollar corporate empire, you look remarkably relaxed."

Marcus smiled, wrapping his arm around her shoulders and kissing the top of her head.
"I didn't lose anything, Evelyn," Marcus murmured, watching his sons chase the ball toward the garden. "I spent forty-four years building an empire out of lies, glass, and stolen names. But today? For the first time in my life, I finally have everything that matters."
