Five years later.
The Vance-Evelyn Foundation was no longer just a local sanctuary; it had expanded into a nationwide network of community centers providing shelter, education, and legal aid to displaced mothers and children across the Midwest.
Ten-year-old twins Leo and Liam were now boisterous, brilliant schoolboys who spent their afternoons helping out in the foundation’s community gardens, inheriting their mother's fierce compassion and their father's unyielding determination.
Marcus stood on the front porch of the estate, sipping a cup of coffee as the morning sun illuminated the golden autumn leaves.
A sleek black town car pulled up the driveway, stopping smoothly by the front steps. The rear door opened, and a young woman in her early twenties stepped out, looking nervous, clutching a worn leather portfolio to her chest.
Marcus walked down the steps to greet her, offering a warm, reassuring smile.
"Welcome to the Vance-Evelyn Foundation," Marcus said politely. "Are you looking for housing assistance, or did you want to check out our legal aid clinic?"
The young woman looked up, her eyes wide with a mix of anxiety and hope. "I... I’m Sarah. I was a legal intern at the federal prosecutor's office when your case went down five years ago. I read your memoirs... and I wanted to apply for the community advocacy fellowship your foundation just opened."

"Come on inside, Sarah," Marcus said warmly, stepping aside to let her pass. "Let me show you how we build empires here."
