Chapter 5 - THE COLLAPSE OF THE DYNASTY

The emergency board meeting of Vance Holdings was scheduled for 10:00 AM in the glass-walled boardroom on the fiftieth floor.

At 9:55 AM, the room was packed with terrified investors, senior board members, and Harrison Vance, who sat at the head of the mahogany table looking triumphant. Harrison had spent the last two hours convincing the board that Marcus had suffered a psychotic break, canceled the Boston deal out of delusion, and was actively tanking the company.

"Gentlemen," Harrison said smoothly, standing up and adjusting his cuffs as the heavy glass doors opened. "As acting CEO, I propose an immediate vote of no confidence against Marcus Vance, followed by—"

Harrison stopped dead in his sentence.

It wasn't Marcus who walked through the doors first. It was two federal marshals in tactical gear, flanked by the U.S. Attorney and Viktor. Marcus walked in behind them, his face carved from granite, wearing a bespoke three-piece suit that commanded the entire room.

"You can't enter this boardroom," Harrison stammered, his face turning pale. "This is a private corporate meeting! Security!"

"Security is currently downstairs being read their Miranda rights for accessory to corporate wire fraud," Viktor said calmly, stepping forward and tossing a thick stack of printed documents across the mahogany table.

The lead federal prosecutor stepped up to the head of the table, looking directly at Harrison and the terrified board members.

"Harrison Vance, you are under arrest for federal wire fraud, conspiracy, and extortion," the prosecutor announced, pulling out a pair of steel handcuffs.

Panic erupted in the boardroom. Investors jumped out of their seats, shouting over one another. Harrison backed away against the floor-to-ceiling glass windows, his eyes wide with sheer terror.

"This is a coup!" Harrison shrieked as the marshals grabbed his arms and snapped the cuffs onto his wrists. "Marcus, you can't do this! We’re family!"

"You ceased being family the moment you helped bury my children's lives," Marcus said, his voice ringing out across the silent, stunned room.

As Harrison was dragged out in handcuffs, the heavy doors opened again. Eleanor Vance walked in, supported by her personal nurse. She looked ten years older, her silver hair uncoiled, her designer suit rumpled. She looked at the federal agents, at the handcuffed Harrison being led away, and finally at her son standing at the head of the table.

Eleanor stopped a few feet from Marcus. She didn't scream. She didn't rage. She just looked at him with cold, unbroken defiance.

"You destroyed everything your father and I built," Eleanor whispered, her voice trembling with hatred. "For a woman. For children of no pedigree."

"You destroyed yourself, Mother," Marcus replied quietly. "And today, the Vance dynasty is finally being built on truth instead of lies."
