Chapter 7 - The Confession TapeWithin the hour, the grand ballroom of the Biltmore Hotel had been transformed into an impromptu press staging area. Federal agents hooked up a high-definition projector to the ballroom's main screen, casting a giant, glowing image across the ornate gold-leaf walls.

Hundreds of Miami’s elite, trapped inside by federal decree until questioning concluded, sat in stunned silence.
I stood at the podium, Aria Chen to my right, and Rosa standing quietly in the wings.
"For months, you listened to the headlines," I began, my voice steady, echoing off the crystal chandeliers. "You watched my company collapse. You watched my life get dismantled piece by piece by people I trusted with my livelihood, my home, and my bed."
I nodded to Aria, who pressed a single button on her laptop.
The room's massive surround-sound speakers crackled to life.
“Just make sure the signature looks like Edward’s,” Harold Bennett’s voice boomed across the ballroom, crisp, unmistakable, and dripping with arrogance. “Once the SEC freezes his personal accounts, we split the Panama holding accounts fifty-fifty. Vanessa, stop crying—your husband is too arrogant to ever check the sub-ledgers.”
A collective gasp swept through the crowd. Vanessa buried her face in her hands, sobbing uncontrollably as her own voice filled the room next, gleefully discussing how she planned to strip my personal art collection while I sat in despair.
The audio recording played for ten full minutes—an uninterrupted masterclass in corporate betrayal, greed, and conspiracy.

When the audio finally cut out, the silence in the ballroom was absolute. You could hear the hum of the air conditioning units and the distant wail of sirens outside.
I looked down from the stage at the politicians, investors, and socialites who had abandoned me at the first sign of trouble. They couldn't even meet my eyes.
