Chapter 8 - Rebuilding from the AshesBy sunrise the next morning, the legal earthquake had completely reshaped Miami’s financial landscape.

Harold Bennett’s political campaign was dismantled in real-time, his sponsors pulling their funding before the morning news cycles even finished broadcasting. Vanessa sat in a federal holding cell, her designer luggage replaced by an orange jumpsuit and a court-appointed public defender who wouldn't look her in the eye.
The federal courts formally dropped all charges against me, issuing a public statement acknowledging that Edward Calloway was the victim of a sophisticated internal corporate sabotage scheme orchestrated by his closest associates.
I walked back into my Miami mansion just as the morning sun crested over Biscayne Bay, painting the marble floors in streaks of gold and amber.
The air didn't smell like despair anymore. It smelled like fresh coffee and quiet triumph.
Rosa was already in the kitchen. She stood by the counter, setting down a porcelain breakfast tray with the exact same quiet grace she had maintained through every storm.
I walked in, pulling out a chair across from her, and sat down.
"You know," I said softly, looking at her with a mix of awe and deep, abiding respect, "for a woman who knows how to tear down an empire, you make incredible coffee."
Rosa offered a warm, gentle smile, her rough hands resting calmly on the edge of the table. "An empire is just stone and glass, Mr. Calloway. What matters is the foundation beneath it."
"And what kind of foundation do we have left?" I asked.

Rosa reached into her apron pocket and slid a small, heavy brass key across the table—the key to the primary corporate vault that Harold and Vanessa had tried to lock away forever.
"Stronger than before," she said simply. "Shall we get to work?"
